There are no longer any excuses for a night in when visiting this electric city, so be sure to strap on your best boots and prepare for a night on the tiles! This guide to Saigon covering the best Ho Chi Minh City nightlife tells you why sleeping in this city is no longer an option.
- Apocalypse Now , 2B ThiSach
This golden oldie is still the favorite of many. Probably the first modern nightclub in Vietnam, this place plays anything you can dance to- so make sure you bring your dancing shoes! Although there are plenty of seating areas, you’ll feel out of place if you don’t hit the dance floor.
- Chill Skybar , 76 Le Lai Street.
In the evening when the sun goes down and the city lights up, this extensive bar offers one of the best views in the city. Equally as interesting to watch are the clientele. From sharply dressed businessmen to fashionable young twenty-somethings, as well as one or two Vietnamese celebrities, people watching is a major reason to pay a visit to this famous Saigonese establishment at the upper end of the budget scale.
- Street Beer, anywhere on De Tham Street
For something more low-key (and low-down), try the street beer bars on De Tham Street. Although in the backpacker district, these hugely popular bars attract locals and tourists alike. And with some of the cheapest beer found anywhere in the world accompanied by a vast range of Vietnamese snacks, it’s easy to see why this street is so popular.
- Yoko , 22A Nguyen Thi Dieu
This cool kid favorite features on many lists of good bars in Saigon due to the fact that it has live music every night and prefers not to put itself into just one music genre box. One night you might be listening to classic jazz and the next it will be raging rock. Expect a hip and tattooed crowd of attractive young things.
- Shrine : Cocktails and Dining, 64 Ton That Thiep
We finish off this list with one of the classiest nightclubs in Saigon. Well, more of a bar than a nightclub but still well worth staying out after hours with excellent cocktails and delicious food on offer. Since opening it has attracted more of a tourist crowd rather than being a big hit with the locals but it makes for a great sophisticated evening all the same.
