Along the coast from North to South of Vietnam, visitors can choose to see coral on a day tour, use a snorkel, an air tank or wear a diving helmet to walk under the sea.

Some typical coastal areas including Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Phu Quoc, Con Dao provide perfect scuba-diving services to admire corals.

Co To Island District, Quang Ninh

Co To Island District offers coral diving service  with operation from April 2023, visitors can now see coral at Vung Tron, Hon Chim (Bird islet) and Ong Tich islet in Thanh Lan island commune, about 80 km from the mainland.

A common diving tour includes electric shuttle, canoe to diving site, fruit, drinking water, diving equipment, insurance. Besides, there is also a sea ​​walking tour. Visitors can also book SUP, take underwater photos, and eat seafood at sea.

With sea walking, visitors will be equipped with a special helmet, weighing about 30 kg, capable of withstanding high pressure underwater at a depth of about 20 m. The helmet has an air tube hundreds of metres long connected from the pump on the ship to provide oxygen to the diver.

Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang

Located 8 km from the centre of Da Nang, Son Tra Peninsula has beautiful beaches such as Nam (South) beach, Rang beach, But beach, and Bac (North) beach. These beaches have steep slopes, clear water, and are suitable for fishing and scuba diving to see coral.

The tours depart from the city centre in the morning. After visiting some places, tourists go to the diving area to see coral. Son Tra Peninsula has five locations in the coral protection zone, with a total protected area of ​​about 134 hectares, including Sup islet, But beach, Nom beach, Dong Bai Bac, and Huc Lo.

The area for diving to see coral is on the edge of Sup islet, about 1.8 km from shore. Tourists will be equipped with life jackets, glasses, and snorkel to freely swim and view coral in shallow diving.

Cu Lao Cham, Quang Nam

On a day tour to explore Cu Lao Cham, besides visiting famous tourist attractions on the island, visitors will often combine swimming and scuba-diving to see coral.

Canoes will take tourists to Hon Dai and Bai Xep to participate in the experience of swimming and watching coral. Before entering the sea, tourists are guided, equipped with life jackets, specialised goggles, snorkel and shallow diving, without affecting the protected coral beaches at Hon La, Hon Dai or Bac beach, Nan beach, Tra beach.

Ly Son, Quang Ngai

Scuba diving activities in Ly Son focus on Be (Small) Island (or An Binh Island) in the form of shallow diving. The tours include shuttle bus to visit sites, cast nets to catch fish, dive to see coral, and SUP during the day. Tourists will be guided to take a coracle boat to Sau (Back) Beach, equipped life jackets, diving goggles to view coral at a depth of 1-2 m.

Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh

The two main places to see coral in Binh Dinh are Ky Co, Nhon Ly Commune and Hon Kho (Kho Island), Nhon Hai Commune. Hon Kho is located in the bay so it is quite quiet. It is one of the most beautiful coral seeing spots in Quy Nhon and is allowed to be operated for tourism. Coral in Hon Kho is located close to the shore, only 1-2 m above sea level.

Just put on a life jacket, goggles and face down in the sea, visitors can see the beauty of coral with schools of small colourful fish swimming around. In the summer, there is also seaweed, so it is suitable for tourists who like to take photos.

Vinh Hy Bay, Ninh Thuan

Located near Ninh Chu beach and Nui Chua National Park, Vinh Hy Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam. Here, visitors should take a tour of the bay by glass-bottom boat. During the approximately 2-hour journey, visitors will take a boat ride through Yen cave, Turtle island, Rai cave, then be provided with the necessary equipment to dive and explore the world under the ocean including diving suits and snorkel.

At the end of the journey, the boat will take tourists to Bai Coc to rest and enjoy fresh seafood.

Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa

Nha Trang is one of the first places in Vietnam to organise scuba diving tours to see coral. From Nha Trang City, tourists can buy tours to islands such as Hon Tam, Hon Mieu, Bai Tranh, Hon Mot. In addition to taking a boat tour and swimming off the island, visitors will be able to participate in diving experiences such as snorkelling, scuba diving, and walking on the seabed.

In Nha Trang, there are also diving classes. Tourists are required to register in advance to reserve a spot and have a medical examination to meet eligibility requirements.

Phu Quy, Binh Thuan

Bai Can on Phu Quy Island is a destination for people who love SUP and diving. This is a coral beach with an area of ​​about one square kilometre, located in the east of the island. Coral includes many types such as common coral, Acropora Coral, Lettuce Coral combined with seaweed mats and many colourful fish species.

To reach the coral viewing point, visitors travel about 300 m from the shore. Tours often combine SUP paddling and scuba diving. The most suitable time to dive to see coral is from March to August every year. Visitors are equipped with SUP boards, paddles, life jackets, diving goggles, snorkel, and fins. Visitors will be able to take photos underwater or on the SUP using a flycam.

Phu Quoc, Kien Giang

Visitors to Phu Quoc often choose a tour itinerary of 3-4 scenic islands, going on a day trip by canoe, departing from An Thoi port in the South of the island.

Popular itineraries through islands such as Mong Tay island, May Rut island (Inside and Outside), Gam Ghi island, Roi island and some other islands. Visitors will have lunch on the island and take photos with a professional crew (underwater or on a SUP from a flycam). Tour includes scuba diving to see shallow corals.

If you want to experience a clearer view of coral, you can sign up for the seabed walking service at Coral Park for tourism. However, visitors are not allowed into Phu Quoc Marine Protected Area, which preserves coral.

Con Dao, Ba Ria-Vung Tau

The best time to scuba dive in Con Dao is from March to September every year. The best scuba diving locations in Con Dao are Bay Canh, Tai, and Cau islands. Tourists who do not want to move around can visit Ong Dung beach.

However, since May this area has limited tourism activities to save coral.
