Originally the Independence Palace of the South Vietnamese president, this 1960s-style structure was famously attacked by tanks on April 30, 1975, which marked the country’s surrender.

After lunchtime at the local restaurant, we will move to Chinatown to visit Cho Lon. Explore the attractions of this intriguing neighborhood, beginning with a brief stop at Binh Tay Market, a big wholesale market that sells everything from dry foods to T-shirts to gadgets. Continue to Thien Hau pagoda, built by the Cantonese congregation and dedicated to the heavenly goddess.
