The local community living in the heritage area understands the value and importance of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. They become the first and direct protectors against harmful acts. The customs, practices and festivals associated with Trang An heritage are preserved and passed down through generations. This contributes to maintaining traditions and preserving cultural characteristics that are inseparable from the value of the heritage.
Many local people are directly involved in the tourism industry, such as guides, boatmen, providing accommodation or producing traditional crafts. Their deep understanding of the heritage helps tourists have an authentic and meaningful experience. By being actively and responsibly involved, communities can help shape and enforce tourism activities that do not harm the environment and culture.
The community plays a role in spreading the value of heritage, conveying the values of Trang An to the younger generation and tourists. Through that, they help to spread the awareness of conservation throughout society. The attachment to heritage motivates people to seek new ways to promote the value of heritage, such as creating cultural products, organizing events, or building stories about this land. In particular, joining hands in preserving heritage helps to connect members of the community, creating a spirit of solidarity and responsibility, helping the community to be more proud of the cultural identity and heritage of the ancient capital.
The economic benefits from heritage are both a connecting thread and a driving force for the community to join hands in preserving heritage, forming an effective public-private partnership model linking heritage and tourism. Heritage values continue to be identified and preserved. Heritage spaces become an ideal environment for scientific research and open up opportunities for cultural exchange, and welcoming international friends to visit and learn about this unique heritage.
Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex is considered “one of the most exemplary and typical models in the world for the successful combination of economic development and sustainable tourism while still respecting nature, ensuring the harmony of interests between people, the State and businesses”.
Trang An is a successful lesson in considering culture as both a driving force and a goal, a spiritual foundation for the country’s development, always placing people at the center, the subject and the resource, the driving force.
