Thanh Ha Pottery Village
From the 16th to 17th centuries, Thanh Ha Pottery Village played an important role in the formation and economic development of the commercial port of Hoi An. Fine art pottery products, household pottery and decorative pottery were exchanged and traded throughout the regions, serving the restoration of relics and in the life and tourism in Hoi An.
Kim Bong Carpentry Village
Kim Bong Village is famous for its construction carpentry, household carpentry and boat building carpentry, which was formed around the 16th century. Kim Bong carpentry is still developed by hundreds of skillful, talented and creative artisans and workers. Kim Bong carpentry has been listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Tra Que Vegetable Village
Tra Que Village was formed in the 16th century. Tra Que land has characteristics of a river island, fertile soil and is surrounded by a river and lagoon system, the moderate and cool climate, so it was chosen by the Sa Huynh, Champa and Dai Viet communities as a place to settle.
They are long-time vegetable farmers on this land, contributing to creating unique flavors for Hoi An cuisine. Notably, Tra Que Vegetable Village has just been honored by the UN Tourism as the “Best Tourist Village 2024” based on 9 criteria: Cultural and natural resources; Promotion and conservation of cultural resources; Economic sustainability; Social sustainability; Environmental sustainability; Tourism development and value chain integration; Tourism management and priorities; Infrastructure and connectivity; Health, security, and safety.
Folk songs
Folk songs are an important form of folk art in Hoi An, containing thoughts, feelings, reflecting the current life and the dreams of the ancients towards the values of truth – goodness – beauty.
Quang Nam folk songs today are also adapted by artists to discuss society, expressing the dreams and aspirations of the people. In Hoi An, folk songs are preserved and promoted through the organization of nightly singing classes, competitions, performances and popularization in schools.
